Barbie and the hair salon

Barbie gets a haircut

The poor Barbies in my house are occasionally subjected to the little one’s hair salon. Notice the half short/half long hairdo being modeled.

Luckily this was a freebie from McDonald’s, but the more expensive Barbies have experienced a similar fate.

Videos and a cool car

I had an appointment with my hairdresser for my son, but I was forced to send the little one to the appointment as a last-minute fill-in. I don’t spend that much on haircuts for her. Since she needed one and I couldn’t stand up my friend, off we went to the salon.

We passed the place where she normally gets her haircut. She loves that she can sit in a “taxi” car and watch Dora while getting her hair trimmed. These places are so colorful and attractive to a preschooler that they beg to have their hair cut. She was thrilled until she realized we weren’t going there.

Bribery and a real haircut

I carried a screaming child into the salon. Luckily the hairdresser is a good friend and was patient since it took 20 minutes to talk her into sitting in the chair. She was happily playing a game on my iPhone (*insert bribe*), and the process began. Washing her hair was out of the question, and it was hard to comb through the sticky hair enough to trim it correctly. Some unidentified pink sticky stuff was dried in several places. Hey, I wasn’t planning on taking her or I would have washed it first.

My little Barbie has long, blonde hair that goes all the way down her back. $35 later she is strutting around like a fashion model.

That was a week ago

It has been only one week since the expensive haircut. I saw little one standing in the hallway. She caught my glance and ran away saying, “I wasn’t doing anything,” which is a sure sign she was definitely doing something. I was horrified to discover the following on the floor of the hallway.

At first I thought another Barbie had fallen victim but quickly realized none of them have 5″ to cut.

This is my third child, so the actual cutting of her own hair isn’t what bothers me because I’m so over being shocked at anything. It is the fact that I just paid for a nice haircut one week ago.

Looks like someone is going to be getting another cut this week, only it is going to be a much shorter look.

I asked her if she was trying to match her Barbie so they could be twins. She of course denied using the scissors and claims she doesn’t know where the hair came from.

If she could only see the back of her hair.
